About the Artist: Kane Gorsuch
I was born and raised in Algoma as part of the Shaw family, I graduated from Algoma High school and worked at Wisconsin Label company for 8 years before moving away. I now work in Green Bay as a metal fabricator and have a small shop in my home. One of my fondest memories of growing up in Algoma was falling asleep to the fog horn. On a recent trip to Algoma, I took a walk on the pier with my sons. I was looking at the lighthouse and thought of my memories growing up there. I decided then to turn my metal fabrication skills toward creating something for my own yard to remind me of my old home in Algoma, and this lighthouse was realized.

About the Artist: Richard Feyen
I am a retired minister. My last church was Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay. My undergraduate major was art. I have been doing stained glass as a hobby for nearly 40 years. My wife, Peggy, and I have five daughters and seven grandchildren in various parts of the country. We have owned our home in Alaska, WI since 1998 and have lived here full time since 2009. Besides glass I love photography, drawing with pen and ink and working in the yard.

Owner and operator or local Olson Fabrication, Shawn has supported our community for years, with beautiful metal crafted sculptures like the Christmas Tree Ship tree and the now well known red algoma sign.

A local welder and metal fabricator by day when he operates John’s Mobile Welding, evenings will find John in his shop where he turns his creative energy to crafting metal art. John has made several unique pieces to support Save the Catwalk. His latest creation, made just for this raffle is this one-of-a-kind windchime.

This handcrafted metal compass rose puts Algoma on the map — literally — with “ALGOMA, WI” arched across the top and a classic four-point compass rose (N, E, S, W) anchoring the center. Nested right into the design is a silhouette of the historic Pierhead Lighthouse and catwalk, rendered in bold black with the lighthouse tower picked out in vivid red.
